About this quiz

This Thanksgiving trivia quiz climbs from easy warm-up questions to real brain-benders. You will meet questions about the Pilgrims and the harvest feast of 1621, how Thanksgiving became a national holiday, what ends up on the table, the Macy's parade, the football games and the odd traditions that every family seems to have.

Play it alone to see how high you get, or use it as a game at the table. Each level has several questions, a wrong answer sends you back to your last camp, and two jokers help when you are stuck. Questions come in a different order every time.

Where Thanksgiving comes from

The holiday is usually traced to a harvest meal shared in 1621 by the Plymouth colonists and the Wampanoag people. Historians point out that the people at the time did not call it Thanksgiving, and that days of thanks were already kept in many places. Thanksgiving became an annual national holiday in 1863, when President Abraham Lincoln called for a day of thanks and praise, and its date was fixed by Congress in 1941 as the fourth Thursday of November.

Many Native Americans observe the day differently, and some mark a National Day of Mourning. The quiz sticks to well-documented facts and keeps the historical questions neutral.

Tips for the table

Use the quiz as an icebreaker: let everyone pick a level and compare how far they get. The food and parade questions work well for mixed ages, while the history and football levels suit the experts in the family.

If you play with children, start with Levels 1 to 3 and read the answers aloud together.

Frequently asked questions

When is Thanksgiving in 2026?

Thanksgiving in the United States falls on the fourth Thursday of November, which is November 26 in 2026. Canada celebrates its own Thanksgiving on the second Monday of October.

Is the quiz good for kids and family groups?

Yes. The early levels are easy and the questions are written to be family friendly. The upper levels are harder and suit adults.

How does the quiz work?

You answer questions across ten levels. Every correct answer takes you one level higher, and the questions get harder as you climb.

What are the camps for?

Camp 1 (Level 4) and Camp 2 (Level 7) are your safety nets. If you answer wrong after reaching a camp, you fall back to that camp instead of losing everything.

What do the jokers do?

50:50 removes two wrong answers. Swap question gives you a new question at the same level. Each joker can be used once per game.

Does it cost anything?

No. You do not need an account or a sign-up.
